Yes, there is one other company, Virgin Galactic. They use a carrier airplane to carry aloft the space ship, then they drop the spaceship and hope the engine ignites, then the rocket flies to the edge of space then returns to the take off runway.
The XCOR Lynx does not need the carrier aircraft because it has much better engines that can take it from the ground all the way to the edge of space and back.
The XCOR Lynx has one seat for the flight participant in the cockpit next to the pilot, surrounded by glass and wonderful views. In the Virgin craft, you sit in the back and look out small windows with five other people.
The XCOR engine uses smooth running liquid rocket engines that do not require maintenance after every flight; the Virgin craft uses rough running solid fuel that requires extensive manual labor after every single flight.
