This, of course, depends on one’s
definition of strength. Many of the truths we cling to depend on such
definitions. While it is an act of strength to destroy, it is also an act of
strength to resist to temptation of such power. The dark side is the quicker,
easier path to raw power, the power to use the strength of will to alter one’s
surroundings. This leads many to believe the dark side is stronger.
But there is a pathway to power
that is forever closed to the dark side. Transcendence beyond death is an
ability only found through the light. By shedding all trappings of self and
abandoning will to allow consciousness to flow into the Force, a trained
individual may be able to retain identity when his or her living Force becomes
part of the cosmic Force, thus achieving a form of immortality. Dark side users
are incapable of such immortality, as their power is based on their imposition
of will to cling onto and reshape existence. This is why Obi-Wan Kenobi
described his ability as more powerful than Darth Vader could possibly imagine.
